The Thread Gatherer—Silk ‘n Colors. Over 174 colors. All beautifully hand-dyed. The signature thread for the company and one of their best sellers. 7-yard skeins. ($6.80)

A 12 ply-ply strandable silk; it separates into 3 groups of 4-ply. Before using be sure to separate all of the plies (referred to as “stripping”) and re-combine the required number of plies. This thread is slightly heavier than cotton floss. The majority of colors are variegated.

Recommended usage:

Needlepoint-- #12-13 canvas use 6-8 plies; #18 canvas use 4 plies; #24 canvas use 2 plies.

Cross-stitch—2 plies on 28 count linen; 1 ply on 30 count or finer; 4 plies on 18 count.
